100 Years in 10 Minutes

Speaking of point of view in History, check out this video about the 20th century.
What point a view do you think this video contemplates?
Could we say it is tendentious?

The Official Story

I don't know if you would all agree with me, but I do like to have a good excuse to watch a movie. So that's what this first post is about!
In our classes we have been studying what is History made of and if the truth plays any part in it. In order to add new ideas to such a complex discussion, I would like to present an awesome movie to you: The Official Story.

It is the winner of the 1986 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. This Argentine movie tells the story of a History teacher that has to face her fears and hypocrisies in order to discover who is the mother of her adopted daughter. The movie takes place in Argentina, during the dirty war, a period of intense governmental violence between 1976 and 1983. Our leading character tries way too hard not to see what is hapening in her country and also in history itself.

So prepare yourselves to good entertaiment but also keep in mind our essencial question: what is History made of?
